The Little League Baseball World Series celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2022 and does so with a slightly different format and an expanded field of 20 teams. The event began August 17 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and ends this week. With Thursday’s games going in, six teams (three US and three international) are left alive in the arc, and the champions will be crowned on Sunday, August 28.

International teams are participating for the first time since 2019. The 2020 LLWS has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only American teams were allowed to participate in 2021 when Taylor’s North Little League of Michigan won the championship. Fans were welcomed back to the stands this year, as only a limited number of family members were allowed to be in the stands in 2021 due to coronavirus safety precautions. The MLB Little League Classic was held on Sunday, August 21, With the Orioles defeating the Red Sox.

Chinese Taipei holds the record with 17 junior world titles, and Japan is second with a total of 11. Japan has dominated recently, with five of these titles happening since 2010. When it comes to the United States, California is the most tiled with seven.
